[ today was turning out to be quiet, and janeway wasn't usually one to be superstitious---but she couldn't help the feeling that something was going to spoil her day. they had a few minor anomalies that they had changed course to investigate, and the crew seemed to be in high spirits. a captain really couldn't ask for more, all things considered.
then, out of the blue, there was a tell-tale flash of light and kathryn's usual command uniform was suddenly replaced with a short, command gold dress straight out of the history books! it caused quite a stir on the bridge, and more than a few murmurs were silenced with a scathing look. her suspicions on who was to blame for this change in the dress code was confirmed when a comm signal came over 1MC with Q's voice: ]
I heard you had an interest in history, and I thought it prudent to change your outfit to fit the times and make your new guest feel at home. Enjoy, Captain.
New guest? [ she questions, and tuvok reports that there is, indeed, a new lifesign on the ship, in the captain's ready room. her security officer and best friend heads in, phaser raised. janeway sees the command gold tunic that matches her own outfit first, and holds up a hand to stay tuvok. no reason to alarm the other officer more than his sudden appearance on their ship.
